On this Great Future Friday, Meet our Executive Director Brandi Lewis. She sought out the job two years ago because, “I worked for another local non-profit organization for nearly 14 years and the opportunity came up to join this organization and I knew right away, it was for me. Continuing my passion to work with children and strengthen our community was the biggest selling point.” What does she enjoy the most about her position? “The kids! They make each and every task I have worth it,” she replied. “Getting an opportunity to get to know them and see them grow, literally and figuratively, is the greatest gift. It really is SO much more than just a job because of them.” Brandi described her job responsibilities as “I have the pleasure of overseeing the administrative, financial, and operational side of all things Boys & Girls Club. No two days are the same for me...there are moments I'm meeting with a potential donor to talk about how they can help us continue to do what we do, working alongside our dedicated staff to make the Club experience the best it can be for our members, brainstorming ways to take our Club to new heights with a group of champions, problem-solving with a parent on ways we can team up to help their child be successful or attending community meetings to tell others about the great work we do. Every single day is a new adventure!” Brandi described BGCMC as “a safe and encouraging place to be. Clubs all around the world open their doors each and every day to best serve the needs of their community. If you take a look around, you see so many negative things happening that our kids are unfortunately exposed to. Having dedicated staff who nurture, prepare and support our youth to be the best people they can be is exactly why we are so important. We're an organization that not only celebrates all that we've accomplished but also remains focused on our mission as we move into the future. Stay tuned...the best is certainly yet to come!” On a personal note, Brandi loves music and especially enjoys going to concerts. “I love to see the production of it all and dream about all the players and pieces it took to pull it off seamlessly. Add one of my favorite entertainers in there and you've made me a happy woman.” ... See MoreSee Less

On this Great Future Friday, Meet Jen Bonetski, one of our newest board members. Bonetski, who joined the board last month, said she “decided to volunteer on the board because I am able to be a part of an organization that is dedicated to helping the youth of our community and giving them the opportunity to reach their full potential. It is a safe environment for the kids to go where it is not only fun but educational as well. The most fulfilling part is that it's for the kids. We are doing this for them. To have something like this for them to go to is such a great thing for the community. These kids are our future!” Jen currently works at Diamond Manufacturing Company as an administrative assistant and safety coordinator. She moved here just over six years ago and feels it’s a great place to live. She continued, “Being close to beach on Lake Michigan is an added plus!” Jen enjoys working out and going to Jazzercise as well as spending time with her family, which includes two Labrador retrievers. Before she moved here, she worked as a teacher of four-year-olds at a daycare and is very passionate about kids. At BGCMC, she “loved seeing all the fun the kids were having by being in this club.
